Hello there, here it is again, Valentine’s day, the traditional love celebration, is already knocking at our doors. I am baffled to see how fast time goes by. To me, it looks like yesterday that I dressed my little one in an onesie with the message “Mommy is my Valentine”.
Well, what do I do this year to give a special appeal to Valentine’s Day? 2 weeks ago I found myself scratching my head, and my chin to find something to spice up love day. I know that many people argue that Valentine’s day is everyday; they celebrate it every time they say I love you to the other half, every time they experience amazing moments with the special person, and make him/or her happy. Therefore, there is no need to celebrate it on a special day. In addition, it is even argued that February 14 has become an excessive commercialized celebration thus it has lost its essence. I do not concur as I see things through different lenses; in my opinion, Valentine’s day takes the tone and colors you give to it.
On the one hand, I agree with the fact that we should care for our beloved on a daily basis and it is not only that day that we are going to be nice or do something agreeable for him or her. No. Marriage and relationships like everything in life are not to take for granted; in this respect, we should always cherish and spoil our husbands or wives.
On the other hand, I, for my part, am totally in favor of celebrating Valentine’s day; we should definitely show our appreciation, with, a gift, a surprise, a planned event, and so on. I am not ashamed at all to say that I enjoy celebrating Love Day and I really love preparing something special on that day.
Since my childhood I am used to celebrating Valentines’Day. In fact, I remember that my Dad always had something for us, some jewels, and there were always boxes full with chocolates of all kind, truffles, dark chocolate, white chocolate, chocolate with raspberries, with mint; my siblings and I were spoiled! As a result it seems perfectly normal to me that I keep the tradition of making love day alive.
Whatever our budget we can plan something nice. It is not imperative to spend a lot on it. Whether you are on a budget, or just do not want to spend a lot of money on Valentine’s day, as you are saving money for a trip in summer time, the important thing is to be creative and do something we know that will not only surprise him or her but he or she will also enjoy. So there is no need to spent a fortune to mark the occasion.
Here comes the moment of sharing some ideas with you.
First, Create your own Valentine’s basket.
3 years ago, I order a basket filled with valentines related goodies for him, but unfortunately the website did not deliver it on time; I tried to contact them all day long but in vain. I do not say that I will never order baskets online, but what is certain is that I will not make any deal with that company anymore because not only they ruined the surprise but they also have bad costumer service. I definitely prefer making gift baskets myself, this way, he will not only get it on time but it ends up getting cheaper.
Just buy a basket and fill it with items that for sure you know that he will like. This way it is totally personalized.
Second, Prepare the dinner yourself
As my Valentine’s day surprise gift got screwed, like I mentioned above, I brought my babe to a restaurant where I order some pasta with shrimps. Then something weird occurred; I did not even finished eating the food that I started to feel sleepy. Once back home, I headed up to bed directly. Since the food restaurant portions were huge I brought some leftover home. My babe woke me up after maybe 2 hours asking me if I mind him having my left over, I said go ahead. And guess what guys! He also fell asleep shortly after. Till that day that remains a mystery to us; we do not know what was in the food that made us so sleepy.
So the following year, I made my own Valentine’s dinner.
Well ahead of time I bought, chairs covers, red candles and tablecloths. When the day arrived I folded the cloths in a special shape and put them in the plate. I served seafood pasta, with foie gras as entrée. I used the appropriate plates for each dish. My table looked fancy, and dinner was a success; as a results, both of us were happy. By the way dinner was very tasty as well.
Third, Go to a live bar
But if we are to busy to prepare dinner, we are not a good cook, or we just want to be in an environment which is different from our house, we have to find someone to look after the kids this is our day; after all it is because of love they are on earth and breathing today. We can to a bar, to listening to good music where there is a romantic atmosphere.
Fourth, Create the ambiance in the bedroom.
There is no need to buy an expensive comforter or sheet; a good one that is not used often will do just as well. Just take one without stains that is neither faded; the newer it looks, the better. Add some happy Valentine’s day cushions, or cushions covers for some effects, and arrange some rose petals in heart shape. Or just write I love you with them.
Fifth, Get some sexy underwear
Another idea that puts a smile on my face is to wear a sexy lingerie bought in any ordinary lingerie store or in a sex shop. Yes you read it right. A sex shop is a place where we can find exactly what we need to please him and to spice up the day. Yes do not be shy to push the door of a sex shop because I am quite sure that he will like that surprise. Our husband will not turn down any striptease. on the contrary, It will be his delight!
Last but not least, get the kids participate
Also we can surprise him by making the kids participating as well. For instance, they can welcome dad home after work some Valentine’s Day balloons; it is a simple but interesting thing to do. Also, by including the kids we not only show them to celebrate with their parents, but we set the path for them later to do the same thing with their boyfriends or girlfriends.
You do not need to follow all the mentioned steps, stick with the one or the ones that talk to you most.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
